Alcohol Free Old Fashioned Drink

This Alcohol Free Old Fashioned Drink tastes like the traditional recipe, but with no alcohol!

Making a mocktail or non-alcoholic old fashioned cocktail is impossible without zero proof spirits. But I have found some amazing ones I know you’ll love!!

Alcohol Free Old Fashioned Drink

I have found (both) an non-alcoholic Bourbon and a non-alcoholic bitters that go great in this recipe.

The products are zero proof, but I must mention that on the websites, they urge buyers not to give these items to minors. Perhaps it’s the desire not to encourage kids to develop a taste for alcohol. Or maybe it’s just a disclaimer that all spirits (zero proof or not) must include. But I felt it important to mention it here.

Non Alcoholic Old Fashioned Mocktail Garnishes

Since it’s a mocktail, it deserves a little extra celebration. Try adding a few garnishes to make this drink a little extra special. Or skip them all together.

  • Orange Twist
  • Cocktail cherry
  • Sprig of thyme
  • Orange wedge

This Non-Alcoholic Old Fashioned Recipe needs a little help from some zero-proof spirits. I have supplied my favorites, but feel free to use what you have on hand.

Ingredients

Directions

  • To a rocks glass, add one large ice cube, or fill 1/2 with ice.
  • Add the sugar cube, non-alcoholic bitters, and water into a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler to crush the sugar. Then stir until the sugar is nearly dissolved.
  • Fill the cocktail shaker with ice, add the non-alcoholic bourbon, and stir until well-chilled.
  • Strain the cocktail into the prepared rocks glass.
  • Twist and squeeze the orange twist over the glass to express the oil into the cocktail. Then drop into the glass to garnish.
  • Top with a cherry and serve.
